Sometimes You Just Have to Take a Leap

Well friends, after years of planning to open a comic shop, selling on various platforms, I am taking the leap of starting an online store.
The plan is to build up the community enough that I can successfully open a brick and mortar comic shop.
Whenever you're trying to accomplish something challenging it's important to understand the reason WHY if you want to remain motivated...
So Why a comic shop?
1) I think there are few true third places left. I think we need real community spaces more than ever. The kind of shop I want to open is desperately needed. If you spend a bit of money from time to time, that gives you permission to use the space to host TTRPG games, or play in TCG tournaments, or just pop in to say hello. In my youth comic shops were one of the few social hubs I had. Although there are many great comic shops, few in the area of New Jersey in which I reside create a welcoming atmosphere.
2) So I can create a positive work environment for myself and anyone I might hire in the future. Modern workplaces are needlessly stressful and toxic.
3) I want to be more present for my family. By doing work I am passionate about and working within a community that I love I feel I will be less burned out and be able to be a better father and husband.
4) Comic shops are not a super profitable business, but if I have to work until I drop dead (hello late stage capitalism) at least I can do work that I enjoy.
